Vector - My Secrets - Happy and Healthy Living

The secret of my happy life is made up of 7 simple steps of living - Eat Heartily,  Sleep Peacefully, Go out for a walk Regularly, Wag tail Vigorously, Play Enthusiastically, Love Unconditionally and Remain Contented Totally. I have seen the human beings around me thinking of ways to make their life happy by doing things which can just not help them become happy…. Think about it
Eating Heartily - Most feel healthy food cannot be tasty and tasty food, we all know, is generally not healthy. But have we thought about it… do we eat to live or live to eat!!! I, for one, eat to keep my stomach full at all times. As a young pup I used to eat 5 times a day…. I was growing up right? Now I am down to one meal a day… yeah a few tit bits here and there is okay. All those who eat for their mouth hunger land up eating heartily and heavily. It is fine if one burns it out by exercising. But then that is where the problem starts. After a nice heavy meal people think they can do what I do… yes sleep peacefully.
Sleep Peacefully - It creeps on you very slowly… the small bicycle tire one had just around the belly when one was 20 becomes a mobike tire and soon looks like the spare tire of the big car one bought for the family last summer. Trying to rid of this fat around your waist is more difficult than getting rid of a flat tread-less spare tire of your car. So what should have been done - you got it !!! Go for a walk or run voluntarily.
Go for a Walk or a Jog Regularly - This will help I assure. It is very important to catch the early dawn Bus number 11… yeah that is what Appa calls his legs - Bus number 11. For me it is more like Train number 1111. Take deep breaths of the fresh air. It is possible only if you plan your walk at dawn not later. Then you can draw lungful of vehicle fumes in the city. Walk briskly, feel your lungs fill up with life giving Oxygen (Oh! This much of Science I have understood by just hearing the kids memorize before their exams). Feel the blood rushing through your body. I can see all human beings around me dripping with sweat doing this.. Ugh!! How nauseating. And they tell me that when I sweat they find it nauseating. Actually I do not sweat. I just adjust my body temperature mainly through my paw pads. However, only a part of the body heat is lost through this channel. Mainly I regulate my body temperature through panting. Yes,  I just open my mouth and pant and the so called sweat just drips from my tongue. Panting helps cool air to pass over my moist tongue and lungs and cools me off. Anyway all this sweat stuff, yours and mine, helps keep our body temperature in check and of course the weight under control.
Wag your Tail Vigorously - Not your tongue. For me wagging my tail is a sign of total peace and happiness. Not always though. One must understand when it is the enthusiastic wag when I see my near and dear ones and when it is the slow swipe of my tail when I am angry. Most of the time it is the first type you will see. It is equivalent to a human smile. As the speed of wagging increases you may take it that I am laughing heartily. And I do this as often as possible under the prevailing circumstances. So you do that too…. Wag your tail… oh I mean smile and laugh often. Well most of the times it will keep people around you wondering what you are upto!!!
One common problem that the humans have which leads to more problems is when men and women wag their tongue more often. It leads to arguments, bitterness, anger and frustration - some of the causes of unhappiness. Spreading rumors, talking ill of others, just plain complaining about their work, friends and relatives (they should call it humaning or something, since my female counterparts don't do that) or just talk for no reason. So think about it… wag your tail more often.
Play Enthusiastically - I have seen very few do this. Working tirelessly I have heard and seen leading upto  stress situations, both, at work and at home. One must work no doubt but must learn to balance it with the reason for which one works. Live a life, with the family and friends. One must work hard and play harder. I have my roles at home cut out very clearly - bark when a stranger approaches home, welcome all near and dear ones and escort them to their seats, take lazy members at home for a walk regularly. The moment I hear the chain of my leash clink, I know it is play time. Chasing the colorful rubber ball in the park, jogging along with the Boy and his friends in the evening or have a friendly barking session with my neighbour are all part of my play hard schedule and I go about it enthusiastically.
Love unconditionally – I beat human beings hollow in this. Human beings have a condition for everything. They will hug and kiss each other one minute and you can see them fighting like…. Humans the next minute. The words that spill out are barbed and cut deeply. Then they stop communicating. Then after some time they make up but I can feel through my dog senses that there is always a miniscule damage in the relationship each time this happens. For me each second of my short life is a transaction. You call me lovingly, I will come to you happily. You shout at me, I feel hurt and go and sit under the table or in a corner. You feel bad that you were wrong and call me again, I will come right back to you with the same amount of love I had. I can sense your true love all the time. And there are no conditions for me to love you back. And this is true for all dogs, no exception.
Remain Contented totally – My life starts and ends with my family. When they are around, I am contented. Anyone can sense that by the way I sigh when I curl up in my favourite corner or on my cozy bed on cold winter nights. I sleep lightly normally but with my family around I feel protected so at times I do sleep deeply and I dream. Yeah I do dream. I will tell you about that later. For me timely food, clean water in my bowl, regular exercise and lots of love and patting is more than enough to remain contented. Believe me, I have seen the older lot of humans also. All they need is just this.
Try following my secrets to a Happy and Healthy life, you would be amazed at what it can do for you.
